I’m looking for a student aged 16-18 to represent Selwyn at next year’s Youth Parliament. Youth Parliament provides students from around New Zealand the opportunity to gain an insight into our democracy and to stand up for the issues that concern you the most.
The successful applicant will become the Youth MP for Selwyn on a six month tenure between March and October 2022. The highlight of this opportunity is an all-expenses paid trip to Wellington on 19-20 July 2022 to take place in a mock Parliament where you will debate a bill, question Ministers, and gain first-hand experience into New Zealand’s decision-making system.
Youth Parliament is a great opportunity for youth and I am encouraging as many people as possible submit an application. You do not need prior experience and your political preference does not matter.
We are aware that this is a busy time of year, so we have kept the application process as simple as we can. If you are aged 16-18 on 12 November 2021 and have an interest in representing your community, I’d love you to apply!
If you are keen, simply send me a short video or one-page document explaining:
- Who you are
- Why you think you would make a great Youth MP
- What are the issue(s) that matter the most to you.
Applications close on 12 November 2021. To submit your application, or if you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected]
